Epoxy Countertops and Bar Tops

Kitchen counters, islands, bar tops and vanities poured in place and finished hard. Marble effect, ocean pours, solid colour, or a live edge slab with the resin worked into it.

A poured countertop is seamless. There is no join at the corner and no strip of silicone where two pieces meet, because the surface is poured as one piece over the substrate and then finished. On an island that means the veining runs across the whole top rather than stopping at a seam.

The pattern is made by hand while the resin is still moving, so no two tops come out the same. You choose the palette, the amount of contrast and how much movement you want. Anyone promising an exact match to a photograph is telling you what you want to hear.

What you get

How we do it

Kitchen counters and islands

Poured over your existing substrate or a new one, in marble effect with fine veining, deep ocean blues and whites, or a solid colour. Seamless around corners and returns.

Bar tops and commercial counters

Built for the abuse a bar takes. Hard finished, heat and scratch resistant, and repairable in place rather than replaced. Backlit inlays and set objects on request.

Live edge counters

A milled hardwood slab used as the counter itself, with the natural edge filled in clear or pigmented resin. The same slab work as our tables, at counter height.

Vanities and small pours

Bathroom vanity tops, floating shelves and side tables. A vanity is a good first project if you want to see how a poured surface lives before committing a kitchen to it.

Matching a counter to the room

Colour blending, metallic pigment work and UV stable topcoats in gloss or satin. If we are doing a floor as well, the two can be pulled towards each other deliberately.

How it works

The process

  1. 01

    Consultation

We look at the actual slab. Square footage, moisture, cracks, what is already on it, and what you want the room to do. The estimate comes from that, not from a phone call.

  2. 02

    Design

Colour, finish, and the amount of movement you want in the material. For decorative work we get specific here, because this is the part that cannot be changed later.

  3. 03

    Preparation

Diamond grinding, crack repair, joint treatment, and moisture testing. It is the least photogenic day of the job and the one that decides whether the floor lasts.

  4. 04

    Application

Primer, build coats, and topcoat, installed in sequence with the cure times the manufacturer actually specifies rather than the ones that fit a faster schedule.

  5. 05

    Reveal

We walk the finished floor with you, cover care and cure times, and tell you when it can take furniture and vehicles.

Questions

Common questions

How do epoxy countertops hold up to heat?
They handle daily use fine and they do not handle a pan straight off the burner. Use a trivet, same as you would on a solid surface top.
Do you have to remove my existing counters?
Usually not. A poured top goes over a sound existing substrate in most kitchens, which is a large part of why it costs less than replacing them. We check the substrate first and tell you if it will not work.
How long is the kitchen out of use?
Plan on a few days. The pour itself is quick, the curing is not, and rushing the cure is how a top ends up soft or cloudy. We give you a date for normal use, not just for when we leave.
Can I pick exactly what it will look like?
You pick the colours, the contrast and how much movement you want. The exact pattern happens during the pour, because it is made by hand while the resin is moving.
Can you match a counter to a floor?
Yes, and it is one of the better reasons to have one contractor do both.
