Concrete Coatings and Resurfacing
Cracked, stained, or just tired concrete does not have to be torn out. Resurfacing repairs and recoats the slab you already own, at a fraction of what replacing it costs.
Tearing out a slab means demolition, disposal, new concrete, and a month before you can use the space. Resurfacing repairs the substrate and puts a new wearing surface on top of it, and you get the room back in days.
It is not the right answer for every slab. If the concrete is structurally failed, heaving, or sitting on a bad base, a coating hides the problem instead of fixing it. We will say so.
How we do it
Basements
A coated basement slab is warmer underfoot than bare concrete, does not shed dust into the air handler, and cleans up after a water heater failure instead of staining.
Commercial and industrial
Warehouses, shops, breweries, and kitchens. Chemical resistant and slip rated systems, installed on a schedule that works around the business rather than closing it.
Patios and pool decks
Textured, UV stable systems that stay cool enough to walk on barefoot and do not chalk out in the Colorado sun.
Crack and joint repair
Cracks get cut out and filled with a structural repair product before anything is coated over them. Filling a moving crack with topcoat just moves the crack up a layer.
The process
- 01
Consultation
We look at the actual slab. Square footage, moisture, cracks, what is already on it, and what you want the room to do. The estimate comes from that, not from a phone call.
- 02
Design
Colour, finish, and the amount of movement you want in the material. For decorative work we get specific here, because this is the part that cannot be changed later.
- 03
Preparation
Diamond grinding, crack repair, joint treatment, and moisture testing. It is the least photogenic day of the job and the one that decides whether the floor lasts.
- 04
Application
Primer, build coats, and topcoat, installed in sequence with the cure times the manufacturer actually specifies rather than the ones that fit a faster schedule.
- 05
Reveal
We walk the finished floor with you, cover care and cure times, and tell you when it can take furniture and vehicles.
Common questions
- Is resurfacing cheaper than replacing concrete?
- Substantially, in most cases. You are not paying for demolition, disposal, or new concrete, and the space is back in use much faster.
- My basement floor is damp. Can it still be coated?
- Not until the moisture is understood. We moisture test first. If the slab is passing vapour, there are moisture mitigating primers that handle it, but installing a standard system over a wet slab guarantees a failure.
- Do you work in occupied commercial spaces?
- Yes. Sectioned installs, evenings, and weekends are all normal for us. Low odour systems are available where fumes are a problem.
